Conversion Tracking Issue
In this project, I tackled a significant conversion tracking issue for a client’s website, leading to a remarkable improvement in the accuracy and efficiency of their lead generation campaigns. The initial problem was an inflated conversion rate of 98%, which was identified and corrected through precise technical adjustments.
Problem Identification
The client was experiencing an unrealistically high conversion rate of 98%. Upon thorough investigation, I discovered that an overlap of a form class with the submit action’s class was preventing accurate tracking of form submissions. This discrepancy resulted in inflated conversion data, making it difficult to gauge the true performance of the lead generation efforts.
Solution Implementation
To resolve this issue, I:
- Conducted a detailed audit of the website’s form submission process.
- Identified the overlapping classes that were causing tracking errors.
- Corrected the class overlap to ensure accurate capture of form submissions.
Results and Improvements
Before Fix (April 1 – May 31, 2023)
- Clicks: 5.55K
- Impressions: 363K
- Cost: $9.08K
- Submit Lead Forms: 2.83K
After Fix (June 27 – August 31, 2023)
- Clicks: 2.12K
- Impressions: 39.9K
- Cost: $4.49K
- Submit Lead Forms: 73
Detailed Results Analysis
- Conversion Tracking Accuracy: The correction of the form class overlap resulted in accurate conversion tracking, significantly reducing the inflated conversion rate.
- Clicks and Impressions: There was a notable drop in both clicks and impressions after the fix, indicating a more targeted and refined audience reach.
- Cost Efficiency: The overall cost decreased substantially, suggesting a more cost-efficient campaign with a focus on quality leads.
- Lead Form Submissions: The number of genuine lead form submissions was accurately reflected post-fix, showing a decrease from 2.83K to 73.
Strategies for Ongoing Improvement
To build on these improvements, I implemented the following strategies:
- Accurate Conversion Tracking: Regular audits and updates to form classes and submit actions to ensure ongoing accuracy in conversion tracking.

- Lead Nurturing: Implementation of a robust lead nurturing strategy using email marketing, retargeting, and personalized content to engage and convert leads over time.
- Continuous Monitoring: Ongoing monitoring of campaign performance and data-driven adjustments to optimize user experience and campaign effectiveness.
